Advertise in the Wenhaston Word - Essential Information

Wenhaston Word is distributed throughout Wenhaston and Mells by a team of volunteers who make sure that it is delivered to every house including holiday cottages. Almost 500 copies are published every month with 440 copies hand-delivered locally and others distributed to Blythburgh Shop and Halesworth Library. Whilst Blythweb Ltd freely provide the publishing skills and time, there are costs in terms of printing which have to be recouped through advertising.

Starting with the first edition published by Blythweb Ltd (April 2007) the Wenhaston Word is available online in the 'Word Archive' section of this website, with the current issue displayed in full in the 'Latest Word' section. The current issue is also shown on the Wenhaston Website (www.wenhaston.net). There is no additional charge to advertisers to be included in the online version.

We have endeavoured to keep advertising rates to a realistic level. Between April 2007 - March 2011 advertising rates remained unchanged but following the rise in VAT to 20%, advertising rates have been increased. These new rates are effective from April 2011.
All rates include VAT.

Display Adverts:
Display adverts are based on two columns per A5 page and are 6.6cm wide. Black and white advertising is from £10.00 (min 4 column centimetres) and colour advertising is from £12.00 (min 4 column centimetres). There is no additional charge to advertisers to be included in the online version (see above). See our advertising spec sheet as a guide to sizes of adverts and our full rates.

We are happy to accept a short editorial piece to support a display advert where this is appropriate.

Lineage Adverts:
We also offer lineage adverts in our Local Business Listings. The charge for this is 25p per word with a minimum charge of £2.50.
In our Small Ads section ("For Sale"/"Wanted" items) or for Personal Announcements the charge is 30p per word with a minimum charge of £4.50. Colour photos can be included from £5.00 each. There is no additional charge to advertisers to be included in the online version (see above).

Inserts:
We are happy to distribute promotional flyers inside every printed copy of Wenhaston Word. The charge for this service is £20.00. We would require 440 printed flyers supplied to us in A5 format. Flyers larger than A5 must be pre-folded or we can fold on your behalf at an additional charge of £10.00. Flyers supplied multi-printed on A4 sheets can be cut to size on your behalf at an additional cost of £5.00. Please note that flyers are not available to view online.

How to send your advert:
You can send us your advert by email in most standard formats. We do not support MS Publisher so cannot accept any files in .pub format. We can accept Adobe Acrobat documents and Adobe Illustrator. We can accept graphic files as well although with these you should remember that they need to be at 300dpi resolution.

We can accept text on hard copy ideally in clear printing that we can OCR.

Photos should be JPEG and 300dpi (at least 750 pixels wide to fill a column).

Articles and Reports:
If you would like to send us an article for publication this should be plain text with no formatting and of approximately 250 - 300 words. Ideally we would like this as an email or on a disk that we can import straight into the Word.

Deadline Date:
Usually 20th of the preceeding month of publication. This usually varies for the January issue and other months if necessary.
